Settings → Application updates is where the check lives. The switch Check automatically is on until you turn it off. Check for updates runs one check now. Download latest release opens GitHub Releases.

While the app is open it considers a check every minute, including on startup when one is due and when the window regains focus after sleep. The 12-hour interval is remembered across restarts. A successful check with no newer version says you are on the latest version. Offline, missing-feed, and malformed-feed errors show as failed checks.

When a newer version is published, Update available appears in the header and opens the notes.

The edition and installer channel are fixed into each release build. Feeds only offer updates for that edition and channel, so a Store install receives an MSI and a direct Windows install receives the NSIS installer. Downloads require HTTPS and a valid updater signature tied to the announced version.

Release builds embed the updater public key and generate signed update artifacts. Local and debug builds keep artifact generation disabled and have no updater public key. Install an updater-enabled release once to receive later updates; an older installed build must first be upgraded manually from GitHub Releases.

Installers and the version in the header both come from version in tauri.conf.json.
