The window
The window is one prompt with a rail on the left and a header on top. Everything else, HTTP, MCP, models, and collections, opens in that same column.

The rail
The rail is 64 pixels wide. Each button has a label and a tooltip.
| Button | Opens |
|---|---|
| Terminal | The prompt |
| Tools | @tool |
| Create | @create |
| Library | @library |
| APIs | @apis |
| Endpoints | @endpoint |
| History | @history |
| Collections | The shelf. Cmd+Shift+B on macOS, Ctrl+Shift+B elsewhere |
| Settings | Settings. The avatar at the bottom of the rail does the same |
Collapse menu hides the rail so the terminal uses the full width. The avatar and your name stay on the header. The choice is localStorage key ai-terminal-rail.
The avatar shows your initials until Settings has a primary email that Gravatar can resolve.
The header
One 40-pixel row:
- Termorq, then the version and edition. Free shows created by Garrard Kitchen; Pro omits the credit.
- The shell name, then the shortcuts hint (⌘/ help on macOS, Ctrl+/ help on Windows and Linux)
- An Environment dropdown, only after you add an environment
- A Customer dropdown, only after you add a customer
- A sun or moon button, then the colour scheme
The working directory stays on the prompt line, in front of ❯.
The version is version in src-tauri/tauri.conf.json, read through src/appInfo.ts. A release build stamps the same value on the installer.
Colour schemes
Twelve schemes, in two groups.
Light: Light, GitHub Light, Solarized Light.
Dark: Teal, Dracula, GitHub, Visual Studio, One Dark, Nord, Solarized, Monokai, Gruvbox.
The header dropdown and Settings → Colour scheme are the same list. The sun or moon button switches group and returns to the last scheme you used in that group. The keys are ai-terminal-theme, ai-terminal-theme-light, and ai-terminal-theme-dark.
A saved choice of dark becomes Teal. A saved choice of system follows this computer once, then stays on Teal or Light.
A soft accent follows the pointer across the header and the rail. It uses the scheme’s accent and stays dim enough that the text stays in front. prefers-reduced-motion turns the movement off and leaves the caret solid.
Tabs
Session tabs sit on the next row. Each tab keeps its own scrollback, folder, command history, and, when you set them, its MCP servers and OpenAI connection. + adds a tab. ×, a middle-click, or right-click Close removes one. The last tab resets. It never leaves you with zero tabs.
Right-click a tab for Rename, Change colour, Shell, Split, or Export as Markdown. Tab colours are teal, violet, rose, amber, sky, lime, and slate.
Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab move between tabs when no palette or dialog is open. The strip scrolls sideways.
Tabs are restored from localStorage key ai-terminal-tabs: title, colour, folder, history, and a capped scrollback. The active tab comes back too.
Time on that row shows or hides the date and time in front of each command. Settings → Command times is the same switch. It is off until you turn it on. Older commands have no time.
The status strip
Under the tabs, a strip names the MCP servers connected on this tab and the OpenAI connection. Several servers are separated by commas. The URL is on the hover, not on the strip. Hover a connected pill and confirm Disconnect? to drop that server only. Esc cancels.
While the tab is connected, Tool docs replaces the scrollback with each tool’s name, description, parameters, and input schema. Preview renders the markdown. Raw is the source. Esc, Close, or Tool docs again returns to the terminal. The scrollback stays underneath.
